Oct 20: Confab #23
What do you get when a show has two Confab virgins? I can tell you that it doesn't involve appeasing the god of some volcano. (We never treat our new guests like burnt offerings.) We do, however, tend to get them a little tipsy with alcohol, at which point they spill intimate details that they otherwise might have reserved for a weekend in Las Vegas. The rest of the evening is spent begging to have those segments edited from the show.
Our guests this week:
- Elizabeth Carbajal
- Melissa Frank
- Richard Huff
- Schelley Olhava
- Keith Vaitkus
Topics included:
- The Ethics of "Bodies, The Exhibition".
- Malcolm Gladwell's book, Blink and Women's intuition.
- Changes in the dating ritual as you age.
You can listen to the show here. (32.8 MB MP3, 59:39 minutes)
Our next confab will be November 2, 2006!
Oct 5: Confab #22
Last Thursday's Confab was a blast - two-plus hours of rock-solid, lively conversation. The problem came later, when we had to decide what to put in to the final cut. (Honestly, a hard choice - it was one of those evenings!)
Our guests this week:
Topics included:- Rachele's efforts to start a financial consulting firm
- Saving for retirement and private accounts
- Insurance & incentives in Canadian health care
- Bounded choice theory
- The idea of outlawing inheritance
